Samone Lumley has been a part of the METCO program since she was in kindergarten, traveling from her home in Dorchester every morning to attend school in Boston’s suburbs. Her father was also in METCO, as were three of her four siblings. It has always been a part of her life. But Lumley, who attends Wellesley High School, never knew the full history behind the school integration program. That changed last spring, when through a paid internship she and seven other METCO students started working on a project about the program’s history and the struggle for equitable education in Boston.

Natick community mourns the loss of 17-year-old killed in Canton crash

March 8, 2021 A 17-year-old boy from Natick was killed in a motor vehicle crash on I-93 in Canton late Saturday night, and a fundraiser has been created to help his family. While state police didn’t identify the victim in a press release, the online fundraiser and 7News have identified him as Giovanni “Gio” Taboh, a junior at Natick High School. Taboh was a passenger in the backseat of a 2012 Jeep Wrangler when the driver, another 17-year-old boy, reportedly “attempted to cross multiple lanes” to take Exit 2B southbound. The Jeep the collided with a 2011 Toyota Corolla, driven by a 28-year-old Boston woman, state police said.
