Kenora District Homes have partnered with Fort Frances’s Riverside Health Care to deliver a series of new social engagement services across northwestern Ontario.
Delivered via telephone or video call, the services are intended to ease the impact of increased isolation on seniors and other vulnerable populations who are facing a reduced ability to socialize due to COVID-19. Seniors living alone within the Kenora and Rainy River Districts are provided with regular check-ins meant to help reduce any anxiety, depression, and loneliness that they may be feeling as a result of the pandemic.

The COVID-19 assessment centre at Lake of the Woods District Hospital in Kenora will be closed for a few days later this month.
The All Nations Health Partners have announced that the testing site will be closed on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day as well as New Years’ Eve through January 2nd.
LOWDH president and CEO Ray Racette says if someone needs a test while the centre is closed, they should self-isolate and wait for it to reopen.
“Even if we collected a sample it’s not going to be tested,” says Racette, “We’re just working around the Christmas closure schedules for the testing lab and the couriers.”
