The Women of Whitworth (WoW) Project held a virtual Wellness Weekend event on 15-16 May. WoW co-founder Liz Prior and funding advisor Naomi Kenyon organised the weekend, which coincided with Mental Health Awareness Week, including lots of online taster sessions for residents: Pilates, yoga, tai chi, street dance, top tips for pain management and posture, nutritious cooking, journaling, mindfulness colouring, eco crafts and more. Each resident received a wellness pack with details of support services available to them locally and some treats to encourage healthy living.     Kimberley Ashworth, founder of The Women of Whitworth Project, said: “It’s been a really difficult 13 months for everyone. With this event, we wanted to provide an opportunity to relax and enjoy a number of fun sessions, whilst remaining covid-safe. We had a real mix of singles, couple and whole families taking part.

Youthwatch poster competition winners announced Date published: 15 March 2021 The poster designed by Jennifer Wong Jennifer Wong, Amina Mehmood and the Barnado s Art Attack Group have all been named as the winners of the Healthwatch Rochdale Youthwatch Poster Competition.   Entrants were asked to design an eye-catching persuasive poster with images and graphics to encourage young people to join Youthwatch, which will build on the current work of Healthwatch Rochdale, the independent health watchdog for residents in the Rochdale Borough, specifically focusing on enabling the youth voice to be heard. The poster competition was run to help promote the launch of the upcoming Youthwatch with three top prizes of a £50 Amazon voucher and five runner-up prizes of a £10 Amazon voucher. Entries were judged by Naomi Kenyon from Healthwatch Rochdale, Laura Augustine from Action Together and Dawn Pierson from Skylight Circus.

Youthwatch will build on the current work of Healthwatch Rochdale, the independent health watchdog for residents in the Rochdale Borough, specifically focusing on enabling the youth voice to be heard. Youthwatch Rochdale will be made up of representatives of the youth of Rochdale, aged 13-18 years old, to help Healthwatch Rochdale understand the experiences of young people who use health and social care services and give them a voice in helping to shape future services.

Healthwatch Rochdale staff member and volunteer recognised for positive work during Covid-19 Date published: 11 December 2020 Naomi Kenyon (right), Healthwatch Rochdale Involvement Officer, receiving food box donations from ASDA A Healthwatch Rochdale staff member and a volunteer have both been officially recognised for their positive work during the Covid-19 pandemic. Naomi Kenyon, Healthwatch Rochdale Volunteer and Involvement Officer, and a local volunteer, has received a letter from The High Sheriff of Lancashire thanking her for her work on behalf of the people of Lancashire during the Covid-19 pandemic. Naomi created and made up Bags of Happiness  for older people living in isolation or with a life-long condition in the Whitworth area. With the help of local businesses and a grant from both Whitworth Community Partnership and Alpo, Naomi created bags loosely based on the five ways to wellbeing - connect, be active, take notice, learn, and give.
