Strawn Park in Columbia flooded after rainfall on Saturday
ABC17 News
COLUMBIA, Mo.
A park in west Columbia was underwater Sunday afternoon after rain stayed in the area all day on Saturday.
Portions of Strawn Park were seen underwater around 3 p.m. by ABC17 news crews.
The director of Columbia Parks and Recreation Mike Griggs said portions of the park are prone to flooding. He said Harmony Creek flows into Perche Creek. When Perche Creek floods, it backs up into the Harmony, creating slow moving flood waters.
The portions that flood are a few holes of the disc gold course on the east side of Harmony and the parking lots.
Rescuing Harmony Ranch Buy The Book
Description After her grandmother calls her asking for help, Jocelyn drops everything and heads back home to Harmony Creek, Colorado. Her grandmother runs a living history museum: a ranch and homestead where volunteers wear clothing from the early 1900s and demonstrate how things were done in the old West, from making soap to shearing sheep. The place is in financial trouble, and it needs the revenue from the annual festival to survive.
There’s just one thing that makes this a little awkward: Mack, who’s divorced, and who’s now the caretaker and blacksmith at the homestead. Jocelyn and Mack have their own shared history, which includes both stolen kisses and teenage rivalry.
