State Government’s nod for screening movies, most movie theatres in Bengaluru remained closed on Monday. Exhibitors say the theatres may begin screening movies only after July 31 as there is no clarity on the release of Kannada, Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam movies. “We welcome the government’s decision, but we have to wait for the supply of movies for screening. Kannada movie producers are yet to announce the dates of releasing their movies,’’ said Karnataka Film Exhibitors’ Association president KV Chandrasekhar. According to him, many single-screen theatres depend on the release of Kannada, Telugu and Tamil movies. “A few theatres may be opened within a few days to screen old movies but there is no guarantee it will have audiences. It won’t be viable to screen a movie for a few,’’ he said.
