PATNA: The Economic Offences Unit (EOU) of state police seized 17 oxygen cylinders, which were being sold in the range of Rs65,000 to 85,000 on black market to the family members of Covid patients in the city.
The EOU has set up a dedicated control room in Patna to receive round-the-clock complaints on black marketing or hoarding of oxygen cylinders and necessary medicines across the state. With the help of complaints received at the control room with baseline number 0612-2215142, the EOU’s raiding teams have nabbed altogether four persons in the last 24 hours and recovered 17 large oxygen cylinders from their possession.

PATNA: Despite all the claims of the Bihar government, the black marketing of medical oxygen continues in the state on a large scale. Barring a few big government hospitals, almost all private and district-level government hospitals are reportedly facing shortage of medical oxygen.
As a result of it, fatality rate among the COVID-19 positive patients admitted in hospitals has increased to an alarming extent. Sources from medical fraternity said that nearly 50 to 55 per cent of corona patients, admitted in private and government hospitals, die everyday for want of oxygen out of total deaths reported in the state.

Patna, Feb 4 : The directive by the government in Bihar about action against those who make undignified remarks on social media against ministers, public representatives and goverment officials is snowballing into a major political issue.
The police, however, have clarified and said that the order is being misinterpreted. Still, opposition parties in Bihar are constantly questioning it.
Bihar Police DGP S K Singhal had said in an order on Feb 1: If any person, after being part of law and order situation..protests, road blockades, etc, is found to be involved in any criminal activity and is charge-sheeted in the case then related information must be entered into character verification report.
