In 2009, Forres-based film-maker Tim Flood was on hand to help Reay primary pupils create a video tour of their school. The finished DVD would be shown to new P1 pupils as a way of introducing them to the school and staff before they started.

Publicans fight no-licence decision

An action had been raised in the Court of Session by the licence holders of Wick against the Wick Town Council, the returning officer and the town clerk of Wick for the annulment of the result of the Temperance (Scotland) Act poll in the town.
The vote at the end of the previous year saw Wickers opt for the no-licence option which would lead to the closure of pubs and severely restrict the sale of alcohol in hotels.

In 2005, Thurso air cadets Ross Venters, Keith Whitelaw, Brian Robertson and Jamie Munro came second in a Highland-wide ICT Youth Challenge. The group from the 1769 Squadron Air Cadets, known as Team Typhoon, impressed the judges with their presentation at the end of the gruelling five-day hot house final.
Wick lighting a disgrace
