Norwich A key recommendation in a study of the city’s fire services needs could receive federal funding in the coming months, as U.S. Rep. Joe Courtney announced Friday that $700,000 has been included in a round of congressional bills for a new computer-aided emergency dispatch system.
Norwich police Chief Patrick Daley said he submitted the request to Courtney’s office when the congressman sought funding priority needs from municipalities in the 2nd Congressional District. Courtney announced Friday the funding was included in bills approved Thursday night by the House Appropriations Committee.
The fire services study presented to the City Council in February urged upgrades to the emergency fire dispatch and fire radios and communications equipment.
