Single-use plastic discarded along Canada’s shorelines almost doubled in 2020, and the COVID-19 pandemic only added to the volume of litter.
The Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup’s annual report noted that single-use food and beverage litter accounted for more than a quarter of all garbage found along waterfronts in 2020.
