Frank Lythgoe s Warrington Anglers Association column THERE has been a report from our head bailiff of a 26lbs 8ozs 0drs pike being caught from our stretch of the Ribble at Hurst Green on Tuesday. Also, lots of plastic waste was left on the banksides having been swept down with the floods as the level dropped. There is a working party for essential maintenance at Sandiway Small Lake this Saturday, February 20 – meet at the lake at 9am. Please book in with Matt Akery on arrival. The fishery will be closed for the day to all who are not involved in the working party.

Image: Sam Naylor TWO amber flood alerts are currently in force across mid Cheshire – less than a week after some areas were hit by flooding. The north west is currently experiencing heavy rainfall from Storm Christoph, with the Met Office issuing a yellow weather warning for rain from today through to Thursday in mid Cheshire. The Environment Agency has issued two flood alerts for the area, meaning flooding is possible and residents should be prepared. On of those alerts is in place for the River Weaver catchment, including Northwich and Winsford, where river levels are expected to peak tomorrow.
