Frank Lythgoe’s Warrington Anglers Association column ANDREW Sangam enjoyed four daily sessions on Worthington Lakes fishing at Adlington (No.3) before this smaller of the three fisheries closed for three months on Sunday, March 14, as this operates a close-season opening again on June 16. The total catch from his sessions was eight carp and two bream taken on garlic grill pop-ups with the best day resulting in five carp – the biggest a common weighing 18lbs 11ozs 0drs. Jade Webb – aka ‘Ninja B’ – sent me some information regarding her brother Jack’s catch from Grey Mist Mere on Friday of a 25lb mirror carp. Jack had used essential cell wafter topped with fake corn and PVA mesh.

Frank Lythgoe s Warrington Anglers Association column THERE has been a report from our head bailiff of a 26lbs 8ozs 0drs pike being caught from our stretch of the Ribble at Hurst Green on Tuesday. Also, lots of plastic waste was left on the banksides having been swept down with the floods as the level dropped. There is a working party for essential maintenance at Sandiway Small Lake this Saturday, February 20 – meet at the lake at 9am. Please book in with Matt Akery on arrival. The fishery will be closed for the day to all who are not involved in the working party.

Frank Lythgoe’s Warrington Anglers’ Association column OUR weekly Sunday Mersey series was fished this week along the Victoria Park stretch and saw Dave Hill the winner with 2lbs 8ozs 0drs of small roach caught on feeder and maggot. Jimmy Byrne, fishing the same method. took second place with 2-5-0. The following day, our disabled and over 60s match took place on a chocolate-coloured Bridgewater Canal at Hough’s Bridge due to heavy rain. Mike Worley took his second win of the year with 1-11-0 of small roach taken on pole and pinkie. Ray Boden, on the next peg, was the runner-up and also caught small roach for a weight of 1-8-0. Mike was sandwiched between Ray and third-placed Neil Buist.
