WATERVILLE Over the past 18 months, Melik Peter Khoury, the president and CEO of Unity College, has faced challenging decisions.
Not only has the coronavirus pandemic upended the world, but the college itself has faced a transformation.
“How can you be innovative if you’re doing things people have already done?” Khoury asked the audience rhetorically Thursday during an appearance at a leadership luncheon cohosted by the Mid-Maine Chamber of Commerce and KV Connect at Amici’s Cucina, an Italian restaurant in downtown Waterville.
COVID story unfairly attacks restaurant owner

I read the recent article “Cancun Mexican Restaurant violated COVID-19 requirements, state says, forcing one-week closure,” April 14, 2021. While I understand from the article there were patrons and security who did not adhere to state public health guidelines, I was appalled by the blatant character assassination engaged in by your reporter and apparently approved of by your editor before the story went to print. This was done by referencing an unrelated 2014 judicial matter, for which the business owner paid his debt to society. While I can understand that in researching the archives for the current story this remote historical matter was found, I take great issue with the grafting of this unrelated matter to the current story.

WATERVILLE Mid-Maine Chamber of Commerce’s 29th annual Taste of Waterville is planned for 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 4, at the Head of Falls off Front Street.
Construction on Main Street has dictated a change in venue to Head of Falls.
This year’s format will feature cultural foods and demonstrations focused on the ethnic diversity of the area. Taste of Waterville will be an adult-focused, day-long event with a variety of ethnic food options, entertainment, and informative walks, along with live music, beer/wine gardens and brew samples. Timelines for entertainment and activities are currently under development.
