Amanda and Ryan Hill own a wrap shop near the Memorial Circle rotary in Augusta, but they d always had their eye on downtown. That dream was about to come true a year ago when a closing on Water Street space was canceled as the pandemic hit. Timing is never good  the young couple have two toddlers and have worked hard to keep the sandwich shop open the past year  but when the Hills had another chance this spring on a downtown space this spring, they didn t hesitate. I ve been wanting to be down here since we moved here five years ago, Ryan Hill said Tuesday as he and Amanda set up for Wednesday s ribbon-cutting at Wrapped Up Coffee House, 216 Water St.

Share WATERVILLE Shannon Haines, who has for many years championed the arts, film, culture and economic development in the city, has been appointed the new president and chief executive officer of Waterville Creates! Haines, 40, of Waterville, starts the job Oct. 1 and will be based at The Center at 93 Main St. downtown. A nonprofit organization funded by foundation grants, Waterville Creates! promotes arts and culture in Waterville and focuses on providing marketing, advertising and program support for its five core partners the Maine Film Center, the Waterville Opera House, Waterville Public Library, Waterville Main Street and the Colby College Museum of Art.

The virtual mic will be passed around the screen to anyone who wants to take the opportunity to talk about upcoming events, share a hiring need, or introduce new staff. There will be trivia and prizes. The next Business After Hours is scheduled for 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 19, at the Waterville Country Club, 39 Country Club Road, in Oakland.

He will address the effectiveness of organizations in valuing and creating a culture where all generations thrive and engagement soars, capitalizing on the strengths of different work styles to communicate better, lessen conflict, and achieve results. The breakfast will be held from 7:15 to 9 a.m. at Best Western Plus, Colby-Coburn Room, 375 Main St. This event is an opportunity to network with other business leaders and join Ciullo and the chamber for a discussion on how to engage varying types and ages of individuals in workplaces.
