Today (June 1), Malaysia begins its two-week lockdown due to the sharp increase in daily Covid-19 infections. The strict movement control order is vital to flatten the curve and ensure our country’s medical services do not collapse during the pandemic.
During the stay-home order, it s important to ensure that in addition to our physical health, our mental wellbeing is also taken care of.
A 2015 study entitled Real-Time Associations Between Engaging in Leisure and Daily Health and Well-Being , released in the journal
Annals of Behavioural Medicine, found that engaging in leisurely activities improved mood and stress levels, and lowered heart rates.
Shed prejudices against vaccine, follow guidelines

Even as the mass vaccination is all set to begin next week, the Ministry of Health (MoH) has urged the potential takers to shed prejudices and to follow the instructions given on the official media regarding vaccination.
“Since the approval for Covid-19 vaccines, many people felt relieved and were ready to take it. However, there are many who are reluctant to take the vaccine. This is known as
vaccine hesitancy which is defined as the delay in acceptance or refusal of vaccines despite their availability,” says Dr Hamed al Sinawi, MD- FRCPsych, Senior Consultant, Old-age Psychiatrist, Department of Behavioural Medicine, SQU.

Fourteen UD students, alumni awarded National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowships
Fourteen University of Delaware undergraduate and graduate students and alumni have been awarded National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowships. An additional three current students and six alumni received honorable mentions.
The highly competitive fellowship, the oldest of its kind in the nation, is among the most prestigious awards for graduate students. It supports outstanding graduate students who are pursuing research-based masterâs or doctoral degrees in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) at accredited institutions in the United States.
