Covaxin to be used from Monday
COVID-19 vaccination for front line workers has begun on Saturday. Telangana Health department staff started to give jabs to employees of Police, Municipality, Panchayat Raj, and Revenue departments.
While the target was 41,666, only 15,437 beneficiaries have turned up. Only 37% of the listed beneficiaries took the jab. Two cases of minor Adverse Events Following Immunisation (AEFI) were reported.
The vaccination drive was launched on January 16. The first priority was given to Healthcare Workers (HCW) from government sector, followed by those from private sector. The drive for HCWs has come to an end on Friday and the vaccination for the front line workers has begun from Saturday. From January 6 to February 6, 2,08,922 were vaccinated.

Hyderabad: After a gap of six long months, the state government finally appointed a doctor at the Urban Primary Health Center (UPHC) at Taleem Amlapur, Karwaan. For nearly half a year, scores of residents, especially the under privileged, had to seek medical care from the single nurse who was working there.
Karwan in Hyderabad is an area where a large population of underprivileged families reside. The UPHC in question receives over eighty patients every day. The single nurse who was working there alone was managing almost everything there. From checking a patient’s health to even giving prescription or medicine, everything relied on her.

Through 1221 camps, a total of 1,35,537 children in the age group of 0-5 years were administered polio drops here on Sunday.
Every year, as per the WHO protocol and Ministry of Health and Family Welfare guidelines, the polio vaccine had been administered to children across the country. The two dosages administered over a gap of 15 days, was being given to the children. Apart from the Health department, officials from other government departments, NGOs and service organisations led by the Rotarians were roped in on the mega project.
