Police officer Dominic Nick Winum for the Town of Stanley was killed in the line of duty by a driver during a traffic stop before he could get out of his patrol vehicle, authorities said. Officer Winum was a veteran of the police force. He worked for Stanley PD since 2016 and was also a Virginia State Trooper before coming to Stanley Police Department in 2016.
