LEGEND? Claims Of Lost Riches South Of Twin Falls Remain Relevant

LEGEND? Claims Of Lost Riches South Of Twin Falls Remain Relevant After years of pondering whether or not dropping a couple hundred bucks on a mineral or metal detector was a wise use of money, I ve finally decided to hell with it I m doing it and I might actually be turning into my father in the process. I ve spent some time this week researching buried material detectors. Many people get a vision of the old, crazy, disheveled man, reeking of whisky and pushing one of these relic finders along rivers, muttering to himself. THERE S GOLD IN THEM THERE HILLS! Legends can t be created without claims, and when you take a hard look at the bygone days of the western United States, these stories don t seem all that far-fetched. In fact, if you don t believe lost valuables are scattered throughout thousands of miles of this western territory we reside in, you likely slept through history class.

State parks enjoyed a banner year in 2020

State parks enjoyed a banner year in 2020 BOISE, Idaho (KIFI) - As COVID-19 kept people closer to home, 2020 became a banner year for Idaho State Parks. Idaho Parks and Recreation said 7,671,482 guests visited state parks last year, 1.2 million more than in any previous year. The previous record was set in 2019. “It’s a mind-boggling number,” said Brian Beckley, chairman of the Idaho Parks and Recreation Board, which oversees the department. “Never before have we had so many people come out to our parks. But with the pandemic keeping people indoors and isolated, outdoor recreation became one of the few things people could do responsibly to beat COVID cabin fever.”

The Worst Movie Made in Idaho at Least had Great Scenery

The Worst Movie Made in Idaho at Least had Great Scenery I see a lot of these web links about driving Idaho.  Driving every last road in the state is on my bucket list.   A website called honeytrek.com appeared this week in my Google feed.  It includes some of the best place in the state to drive, hike and paddle.  In a little more than six years I can safely say I’ve been to many of these places.  I just need another 60 years!  I’ve been to the Spud Drive-In as well as the obvious, Shoshone Falls. Friends have issued me a standing invitation to visit their home near Yankee Fork.  Perhaps in summer.  Twin Falls County Commissioner Don Hall told me this week about a Thanksgiving weekend trip he made to that part of the state a very long time ago.  He made it to Stanley and experienced cold like he never encountered before.

Wave Of Graffiti Extends From South Idaho To Zion National Park

Wave Of Graffiti Extends From South Idaho To Zion National Park Graffiti at national parks and reserves across the United States is on the rise, particularly in the northwest. Officials at one of the most visited parks in the state of Utah are fighting a losing battle against these individuals that are continuing to deface natural landmarks. Those of us in southern Idaho recall the incident in the spring of 2020 where the City of Rocks was hit by a still unknown person who painted over historical rock carvings from 19th century settlers. It infuriated many throughout the state, and donations poured in to help state park officials restore the landscape.
