Something Good: Man Developing Plans For Sculpture Garden In Edmond

By: Karl Torp EDMOND, Oklahoma - The phones at Edmond s City Hall have been ringing from inquiring residents as dirt is now being moved on what appears to be a major development at Coltrane and 2nd. Retired Edmond attorney Randel Shadid used to represent developers. His latest project includes clearing underbrush on 62 acres. It had his neighbors fearing apartments or a shopping center would be coming soon. “I always thought that would be a tragedy,” Shadid said. Edmond Launches New Mobile Food Truck Parking Station

By: Anjelicia Bruton EDMOND, Oklahoma - The City of Edmond is taking new action to attract some of the metro s best food to its downtown area. City leaders unveiled new resources for food trucks this week. The city’s plan is to do so by setting a mobile food truck station. Food trucks can now schedule a time to reserve a spot at the Littler Lawn in downtown Edmond free of charge.   “This space is a temporary space, but it will probably be here for a few more years, at least,” City of Edmond public information officer Casey Moore said. “So, what we re trying to do, is make sure that we activate this space until something new is built here. What we re trying to do is give people an opportunity to get out and enjoy that.”

LAKE ARCADIA FLOODING: Red Cross offers advice as Lake Arcadia s water level sits at 10 feet above normal

Even though the water levels are rising in parts of central Oklahoma, Lake Arcadia is doing its job. It s holding the water that it s supposed to hold to make sure we re keeping people safe and not flood, said Casey Moore, with the City of Edmond.Once the lake reaches 12 feet, there s a potential it closes. We have been asked by people, Are they going to let water out of the lake? That is managed by the Army Corps of Engineers, Moore said. They re always going to look at making sure they re controlling the flow of water and keeping people safe downstream. When water is released from Lake Arcadia, it flows into the Deep Fork River and then runs all the way to Lake Eufaula. But if you live in an area prone to flooding downstream, the American Red Cross is available for assistance. We really want folks to think about, you know, what can they do to keep water from coming in if it s a situation where they might have some concerns because of a creek near their home or a road that

Sewage Plant Upgrade Causing Horrible Smell For Residents In East Edmond

By: Mike Glover EDMOND, Oklahoma - Residents in east Edmond have been complaining since late last year about a horrible smell around the city. They said it all stems from the Coffee Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant on Midwest Boulevard.  Residents north of the plant said when the winds are from the south the smell is unbearable. Many have complained of headaches and nausea from being outside in the smell for an extended period of time.  “My wife and I sacrificed for over twenty years, living below our means so we could live in a nice neighborhood,” homeowner Glenn Miller said. “We want to be able to enjoy company and entertain in our house and we can’t really do that. It’s embarrassing. I have to explain what that smell is all the time.”
