With thrift shopping at an all-time high, Madison plans to open new store
More shoppers than ever before are behind a new thrift store coming to Madison.
WAAY 31 stopped by the future location of the Downtown Rescue Mission’s new store to find out more on how the pandemic affected people’s wallets.
People we spoke to said they can’t get enough of them.
Connie Gieb, a Madison resident, said she buys all her clothes from thrift stores. You can’t beat it, said Gieb. You just can’t beat it.
Gieb said the low cost and variety of items are what leads her to all the thrift stores in Madison.

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) - Eviction notices were hand delivered to dozens of people in Huntsville Monday.
Everyone living in the âMill Street tent campsâ have to pack up and move.
City leaders say with the current Church Street construction project, a big portion of the area where the tents and homeless camps are set up must go so mitigation work can start soon.
Leaders with several non-profits including the Salvation Army, the Downtown Rescue Mission, First Stop and Wellstone, notified the residents their doors are open and help is available for them to safely relocate.

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) - Overnight shelters and warming stations across Madison County are once again taking care of a lot of people this week.
Employees at the Huntsville Downtown Rescue Mission opened the doors to the cafeteria at 5 pm, February 17th.
The CEO Keith Overholt says, more than 300 people are spending the night and they provide more than 1000 meals a day.
The Downtown Rescue Mission is not the only organization offering a helping hand.
