Wasatch Innovation Network launched to promote Utah Innovation and Business Salt Lake City  Public and private sector organizations across Utah gathered Tuesday to announce a statewide multi-industry initiative to promote research, development, and commercialization with the goal of developing Utah as a global innovation economy. The new organization called the Wasatch Innovation Network (WIN) is a 501(c)6 nonprofit that will promote Utah as an international leader in innovation, technology transfer, manufacturing, and marketing, as well as offer support services to businesses throughout the state. “There are many moving parts in any innovation ecosystem, and the time is right to connect the whole Wasatch Front,” says Derek Miller, president and CEO of the Salt Lake Chamber and Downtown Alliance, in announcing the new initiative at a press conference hosted with TechBuzz News and Colliers International. “We hear leaders talk more and more about Utah becoming

Utah Restaurant Association celebrates Utah s resilient restaurant industry

Salt Lake City  The Utah Restaurant Association (URA) held their annual Restaurant Industry Awards Gala Wednesday, June 30, 2021, at the Grand Ballroom in the Union Depot Building at The Gateway in Salt Lake City.  The URA has held their annual gala for the last 30 years and had to cancel the event last year due to the pandemic. It is typically held in early spring. The gala recognizes the outstanding achievements of professionals in the restaurant industry, food community, and also allies of the Utah restaurant industry. Winners are nominated by their peers and restaurant professionals. Restaurant owners, friends of the industry, notable vendors, as well as the exemplary front of the house and back of the house employees with the “U R A  Heart of the Industry” award” were among those honored.

She said they re expecting around 26,000 people at the first Thursdays this week because everybody and their mother is talking about it , as Katie said. A New Attraction at Thursdays Downtown This Year One new attraction that will be at Thursdays this year is the Bitter Little Duck Lounge. It s a collaboration between Bitter & Pour, Little Thistle, and Bleu Duck Kitchen. You enter through the Bleu Duck tent, which is going to be one of the first tents you ll see on the left if you re walking into Thursdays from the 1st Ave. Stage (the intersection of 1st Ave. SW and 3rd St. SW). It ll be a nice place to sit and hang out.
