Shafqat examines progress on TVET reforms July 15, 2021 Islamabad : Federal Minister for Education and Professional Training Shafqat Mahmood on Wednesday visited the National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC) headquarters and discussed with NAVTTC chairman Syed Javed Hassan the progress on the revamping of the technical and vocational education and training (TEVT) sector in the country. He appreciated the efforts of the NAVTTC in implementing the fourteen areas of intervention under the Prime Minister’s Hunarmand Programme and particularly lauded the initiatives of establishing 104 Job Placement and Vocational Counseling Centres (JP&VCCs), launch of the National Employment Exchange Tool (NEXT) and training of 37,000 youth in hi-tech and conventional trades.

June 28, 2021 Islamabad : The federal government has allocated funds amounting to Rs28 billion for the education sector in the budget 2021-22, which stand almost 500 per cent higher than the PMLN regime’s last year allocation. In an interview with this agency on Sunday, Federal Minister for Education and Professional Training, Shafqat Mehmood said that through this allocation, education would see a true transformation. “The PMLN in its last year in government had spent Rs4.7 billion in the education sector, while the PTI government allocated Rs28 billion for the current financial year that is 100 per cent higher than its previous budget, and 500 per cent higher than the allocation of the previous government’s last year,” he informed.

30,000 youth given technical training Islamabad April 30, 2021 Islamabad : Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on Youth Affairs Usman Dar on Thursday said over 30,000 students had been given professional training in conventional and high-tech fields under the Kamyab Jawan s Skills for All programme. During a meeting chaired by Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Asad Umar, the SAPM said Rs10 billion Skills for All project was meant to revamp the technical and vocational education and training sector in the country. He said 14 components of the project revolved around the establishment of 75 high tech skills centres, National Employment Exchange Tool, business incubation centres, skills up-gradation of teachers, etc. The participants discussed initiatives undertaken under the PM s Kamyab Jawan Programme (PMKJP), through National Vocational & Technical Education Commission (NAVTEC) and Higher Education Commission (HEC).
