Doha: The weekly rate of COVID-19 infections in Qatar has increased four times compared to cases reported in January this year.
“The number of local cases of COVID-19 infection has increased significantly during the past weeks. The infection has reached to all age groups of the community,” said Dr. Abdulatif Al Khal, Chair of the National Strategic Group on COVID-19 and Head of the Infectious Diseases Division at Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC).
(MENAFN - Gulf Times) More than 140,000 doses of the Covid-19 vaccine have been given in Qatar, Dr Abdullatif al-Khal, chair of the National Strategic Group on Covid-19 and head of the Infectious Diseases Division at Hamad Medical Corporation, said on Thursday. These numbers are likely to increase in the coming days very quickly as more supply of the vaccine have begun to be available, he told Qatar TV at a new temporary Covid-19 vaccination centre at the Qatar National Convention Centre. Qatar also received the first shipment of Moderna vaccine, in a limited quantity only to test the delivery or shipping and storage process and its use. We expect that larger quantities of this vaccine will arrive, but I can assure you that there is no difference between Moderna and Pfizer vaccines. They both have the same combinations, same efficiency and the same degree of safety, added Dr al-Khal.
