Caution advised as Covid-19 cases rise

By Sanaullah Ataullah | The Peninsula Doha: The weekly rate of COVID-19 infections in Qatar has increased four times compared to cases reported in January this year. “The number of local cases of COVID-19 infection has increased significantly during the past weeks. The infection has reached to all age groups of the community,” said Dr. Abdulatif Al Khal, Chair of the National Strategic Group on COVID-19 and Head of the Infectious Diseases Division at Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC).

COVID-19: Qatar exempts 2-dose recipients from quarantine

Cairo: Qatar has said that its citizens and foreign residents who have received two doses of vaccination against COVID-19 are exempted from quarantine when they return to the country from abroad, or after coming into contact with a positive case. Exemption from the quarantine will be applied 14 days after receiving the second dose, a health official said, according to the Qatari news agency QNA. The exempted person should also test negative in the coronavirus-detecting PCR test conducted following return to Qatar or after coming in touch with a positive case, added Dr Abdulatif Al Khal, the head of Qatar’s national strategic health group in charge of tackling COVID-19.
