Mar 08, 2021 06:08:09 PM Changing attitudes is fundamental to achieving gender equality and empowerment of all women and girls, says Minister for Women Mereseini Vuniwaqa. In her International Women’s Day message, Vuniwaqa said the change must start with respect and balance of power. She said the Fijian government recognises the gendered impact of COVID-19 and is prioritising the importance of gender responsive national recovery plans and the critical role that all women and girls play as leaders and in building resilience. “Looking ahead with a long-term vision to accelerate realisation of gender equality and empowerment of all women and girls, our efforts and investments (2021-2026) will be focused on three strategic priority areas; ending gender based violence against all women and girls, promoting women’s economic empowerment and improving protection, preparedness & resilience to disaster for all women and girls.”
