Government recognises the gendered impact of COVID-19 and is prioritising the importance of gender responsive national recovery plans and the critical role that all women and girls play as leaders and in building resilience.
Minister for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation Mereseini Vuniwaqa highlighted this in her statement as we celebrate International Women’s Day today.
With the theme, “Women in leadership: Achieving an equal future in a COVID-19 world”  and a campaign theme of #ChooseToChallenge, Mrs Vuniwaqa has invited all Fijians to celebrate the role and significant contribution of women across our island nation and to reflect on the challenges that we still face in ensuring that all Fijian women and girls are safe, protected, respected and can fulfill their full potential.
