Four people, including the National Congress Party (NCP) candidate Jonathone N Sangma, have been killed in an IED blast in Meghalaya’s Garo Hills on late Sunday night.
The dead includes Sangma, his two bodyguards, and a supporter, were returning to Williamnagar, the district headquarters of East Garo Hills, after an election campaign in Sawilgre village, officials claimed.

Sudan has resorted to Interpol to pursue former head of intelligence in ousted president Omar al-Bashir’s regime.
Former head of the dissolved National Intelligence and Security Services (NISS) Salah Gosh is accused of plotting terrorist attacks aimed at undermining the constitutional system in the country.
Investigations have implicated him in forming a terrorist cell that was arrested ahead of the attacks that were planned for May 2019.
A trial will kick off in Khartoum on Sunday for members of the cell. They have been identified as former members of the so-called People’s Security Service (PSS) and security officials from Bashir’s dissolved ruling National Congress Party (NCP).
Ex-security members to face Sudanese justice over subversive activities
July 2, 2021 (KHARTOUM) - A Sudanese special court will start on Sunday the trial of 24 security members accused of planning subversive activities.
The General Attorney said in a statement released on Friday it had referred to anti-terrorism several members of the former People’s Security Service (PSS) accused of planning terrorist activities.
The PSS was a security service composed of Islamist members established by the National Congress Party (NCP) of Omer al-Bashir tasked with the protection of his regime. Twenty-four people were arrested as they had been charged with undermining the constitutional order, opposing the authority with violence, violating the Armed Forces Law, the management of terrorist organizations, the Weapons and Ammunition Law, and a number of other articles, stated the Public Prosecution.
