Inmarsat Maritime said in a statement that it completed its 10,000th Fleet Xpress installation and will launch a series of incentives to celebrate the milestone.
“The Fleet Xpress service continues to provide the superyacht sector’s gold standard for seamless, mobile broadband,” Inmarsat president Ronald Spithout said. “Maritime digitalization is now unstoppable. The market is becoming mature enough to support its own digital ecosystem with separate bandwidth channels for crew, applications and operations.”
The National Marine Electronics Association’s installer certification classes are scheduled to begin Feb. 23-25 in three, six- to eight-hour virtual sessions: Basic Marine Electronics Installer, Basic NMEA2000 Network Installer and Advanced Marine Electronics Installer. The Bass Anglers Sportsman Society is accepting nominations for the Bassmaster High School All-American Fishing Team. B.A.S.S. said nominations must be made by a parent, coach, teacher or school official, and students must be currently in grade 10, 11 or 12, with a 2.5 or higher grade point average. “We are so proud to offer a platform that not only recognizes successful student athletes on their accomplishments on the water, but on their academic success and community involvement as well,” program senior manager Hank Weldon said in a statement. The deadline to nominate a student is Feb. 22.
