The clash occurred when police launched an operation to clear the area around Lahore’s Yateem Khana Chowk, where workers of the banned party have been staging a protest since earlier this week.
In a statement, the Punjab police said “miscreants” had attacked Nawankot Police Station early on Sunday where Rangers and police officers “were trapped inside the police station and DSP Nawankot kidnapped and taken to the markaz”.
It added that “at least one oil tanker with 50,000 litres of petrol has been taken by the miscreants to the markaz.”
According to the statement, which was tweeted by Punjab police while replying to journalist Hamid Mir, the miscreants were armed and attacked Rangers/police with petrol bombs.

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Interior Sheikh Rasheed said Sunday the government was not negotiating with the outlawed Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP). No negotiation process is underway with the TLP, said the minister.
Giving details of the proscribed organisation s blockage of roads and highways across the country, Rasheed said 192 locations across the country had been sealed by the banned outfit.

The Punjab government has blocked the national identity card of the chief of the outlawed Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan, Saad Hussain Rizvi.
A notification issued by the Punjab Home Department on Sunday stated that the leader’s name has been placed under the Fourth Schedule of the Anti-Terrorism Act, 1997.
According to the act, any individual linked to a proscribed organisation can be restricted to limitations on travel, speech, and business. Here are the things Rizvi has been instructed to do as long as the order remains in force:
