Milwaukee library COVID vaccine clinics open
COVID shots at Milwaukee libraries
Officials hope that by making the COVID vaccine more accessible, it will encourage those still on the fence to get a shot.
MILWAUKEE - Milwaukee s former Mill Road Library (6431 N. 76th Street) has been transformed into a fully operational COVID vaccine clinic. We are bringing the vaccinations to the people, said Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett. Any arm is a good arm.
Mayor Barrett, Congresswoman Gwen Moore and Senator Tammy Baldwin were among those on a tour of the library s new medical facilities. We need to bring the vaccine to where people are if we’re ever going to return immunity and if we’re going to have a truly equitable distribution of the vaccine, said Baldwin.
10% of each MPS school will be tested for COVID-19 every other week
Starting this week, Milwaukee Public Schools will begin testing students and staff for COVID-19.
MILWAUKEE - Starting this week, Milwaukee Public Schools will begin testing students and staff for COVID-19. This comes as children in grades 4 to 8 return to schools on Monday, April 19.
Ten percent of each school will be randomly tested for COVID-19 every other week. Students will self-administer the nasal swab test.
MPS said pool testing works as follows:
Each child is given something like a Q-tip to swab their own nose
Up to 25 of those Q-tips are put into a tube
