DePaul traveled to Normal, Illinois to face interstate rival Illinois State. The Red Birds took a 7-2 win over the Blue Demons.
Illinois State scored three in the second. That would be all they needed to improve their record to 21-5.
In the fourth, Kate Polucha belted a solo shot to left to cut the lead to 3-1. It was her team-leading sixth home run of the season.

The score remained 3-1 going into the sixth. Angela Scalzitti singled and advanced to third on two errors. Polucha s sacrifice fly scored Scalzitti to make it 3-2, but that would be it for DePaul.

Tyler Polley has decided to return to UConn for a fifth year.
Polley will enter his name into the NBA Draft as he explores the “possibility of a professional offer,” but he has passed on the opportunity to transfer to another school as a graduate student.
“I want to come back because UConn basketball is my family and I wanted the chance to play ball with my family one more time,” Polley said in a statement. “I feel like we moved the program forward last year and we want to take it even further next season.”

The DePaul Blue Demons just finished one of their worst seasons in school history at 5-14 overall and placing 11th in the Big East.
As a result, they just fired their head coach of six seasons in Dave Leitao. Now, it’s reported by The DePaulia that former Kentucky assistant Kenny Payne will be their main target.
Payne was treasured here in Kentucky. Not only did he contribute heavily to recruiting some of the best players this school has ever seen, but he played a huge role in the culture and development of these players and this program.

Leitao, who was hired by former athletic director Jean Lenti-Ponsetto, was brought in over names like Bobby Hurley and Bryce Drew in 2015 in order to try and lead the Blue Demons back to the NCAA Tournament, a feat accomplished by Leitao in his first stint with the school (2002-05).
