Green River Star -   April 22, 2021 There are a lot of thirsty eyes looking at the Flaming Gorge Reservoir. Some of them are our neighbors in Wyoming. Nearly 14 years have passed since the idea of a trans basin water diversion was first presented to the residents of Sweetwater County and thankfully the project proposals tossed around by people like Aaron Million never took flight. We are as opposed to the idea as we have ever been, as there is not situation involving trans basin diversion we could conceive that would benefit the residents of Sweetwater County. We’re also happy to have seen politicians from all sides in Swe.

Airport Receives $3 Million Grant for Commercial Terminal Modernization Project

ROCK SPRINGS  The Southwest Wyoming Regional Airport has received a $3 million Wyoming Business Council grant that will act as a crucial component in moving forward with the Commercial Terminal Modernization Project. The State Loan and Investment Board (SLIB) approved the airport’s application for a $3 million Wyoming Business Council Business Ready Community Grant at their meeting Thursday morning. “This $3 million in funding is one of the final pieces of funding to move forward with our $19.5 million Commercial Terminal Modernization Project. To date, the airport has secured just over $16.3 million in Federal and State grants as well as nearly $700,000 in local funding,” Airport Director Devon Brubaker said.

Commissioners Accept $1 Million COVID-19 Relief Funds Agreement for Airport

SWEETWATER COUNTY During the Sweetwater County Commission meeting this morning, the commissioners unanimously approved a request to accept a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airport Coronavirus Response Grant Program agreement. Under the agreement, Southwest Wyoming Regional Airport will receive a little over $1 million. At the meeting, Airport Executive Director Devon Brubaker said the agreement is coming from two different programs for a total of $1,013,325.  The Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriation Act signed into law on December 27, 2020, includes nearly $2 billion in funds to be awarded as economic relief to eligible airports and concessions, information from the commission packet states.
