cbleck@miningjournal.net MARQUETTE The Marquette County Health Department has provided pre-registration details regarding the new COVID-19 vaccination priority groups. As of Monday, eligibility will be expanded to include residents age 50 and over with medical conditions or disabilities as well as family members who care for children with special health care needs. Eligibility will expand again to include all residents age 50 and over on March 22. The MCHD will begin accepting pre-registration for these two groups at 10 a.m. today. It is developing a new registration form that includes information about medical conditions. Anyone age 50 and over or those caring for a child with special health care needs may pre-register using a link to be posted at mqthealth.org. The health department will use this information to contact people.

Thousands of Michigan business owners sat over their computers just before 9 a.m. on Dec. 15, hoping they’d have quick enough fingers to get a $15,000 state grant. The Pure Michigan Small Business Relief grants were awarded on a first-come, first-served basis to all who were eligible. About 22,350 businesses that sought the money, but only 682 grants were awarded – meaning 97% were denied. Within minutes, thousands of business owners were tossed into a virtual queue – waiting to get an application. Some waited all day, and more than 14,000 were eventually turned away before getting a chance to fill out the application.

Restaurant Seeks Relief After Gov Whitmer Shutdown, Is 8,917th in Line

21 Dec 2020 A Michigan restaurateur impacted by Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s shutdown orders sought to apply for a grant last week to keep her business open, only to end up 8,917th in line. Kim Ledy, who owns Deli Deli in Pickford in the eastern Upper Peninsula, said her business suffered after the initial coronavirus shutdown order in March, but was able to survive due to its drive-through option. But Whitmer’s second shutdown order, which occurred in November, “That one has really, really hurt our business,” Ledy said. “We just want to be able to open back up,” Ledy told Breitbart News.
