The Department of Finance (DOF) approved the inclusion of all importations of coronavirus vaccines in the “Mabuhay” or express lane to allow their quick processing of the tax and duty exemptions.
In a statement released by the DOF, the department said that Finance Secretary Carlos G. Dominguez III approved the inclusion of COVID-19 vaccines in the Mabuhay lane as well as the waiving of their filing fees.

Dominguez, upon the recommendation of Finance Undersecretary Antonette Tionko, also allowed COVID-19 vaccine importers to use the Tax Exemption System (TES) Online Filing Module in processing their shipments.

According to Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte’s Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque, about half of the Filipino population experiences hunger and food insecurity – a situation which has been exacerbated over the past year by COVID-19 lockdowns and economic difficulties.
“It’s the state’s obligation to ensure all Filipinos have sufficient food, [thus] we need a new [food security] strategy in place as COVID-19 has completely changed our daily lives,” Roque said in a formal press statement.

Agents of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) are set to go to the Philippine National Police (PNP) headquarters in Camp Crame, Quezon City on Tuesday, Feb. 16, to share findings on the investigations conducted on the death of flight attendant Christine Angelica F. Dacera.

NBI Deputy Director Ferdinand Lavin said in a text message that “shared or joint examination will be done at PNP Crime laboratory.”
Dacera was found unconscious last Jan. 1 in the bath tub of her room at the City Garden Grand Hotel in Makati City where she celebrated the new year with her friends.
