AIKCC national secretary Gunvant Patil told ET after the meeting that the government should not let farmers of the country suffer due to small groups of farmers from Punjab. “If farmers from states like Punjab don’t want reforms, they should be allowed to continue with the mandi system and states in favour of reforms should be encouraged to embrace the new laws,” he said.
Tomar has been meeting a large number of farmer groups, who have expressed unconditional support to the farm laws aimed at deregulating the sale of crops and doubling the income of farmers. A large number of farmers from Haryana and Uttarakhand had met Tomar and threatened to launch an agitation if the government rolls back the laws.
