Several Triad law enforcement members are reflecting after the funeral for two Watauga County sheriff s deputies killed in the line of duty.
Hundreds of them came to that service on Thursday. Rows of sheriffs, deputies, chiefs and officers from across the state gathered to say goodbye to Sergeant Chris Ward and K-9 Deputy Logan Fox.

BOONE, N.C. – A difficult day in Boone as thousands gathered to pay their final respects to two Watauga County Sheriff’s deputies, gunned down in the line of duty. Sergeant Chris Ward and K9 Deputy Logan Fox were killed last week during a stand-off with a suspect inside a home. Thursday, they were laid to rest at App State University’s Holmes Convocation Center.
Two families, and an entire community, came together for a service no one ever wants to attend.

BOONE, N.C. It was a heartbreaking goodbye as a K-9 was seen lying down beside a casket during a funeral to honor two fallen Watauga County sheriff’s deputies.
Already during the service, dozens of K-9s from law enforcement agencies across the state paid their respects by visiting both the caskets of Sgt. Chris Ward and K-9 deputy Logan Fox.
Fox leaves behind his partner, K-9 Raven. Deputy Fox and Raven were both repeat visitors of the Pet Place in Boone.

Funeral services for Sgt. Chris Ward and K-9 Deputy Logan Fox will be held this afternoon (May 6) at the Holmes Convocation Center, 111 Rivers Street, in Boone. The services will begin at 3 p.m. and will end at approximately 4 p.m. Doors will open to the public at 1 p.m. All guests will be required to wear face coverings. Face coverings will be provided for those guests who do not bring them.
Immediately prior to the services, a processional will travel east on Rivers Street and past the Rivers Street parking deck before arriving at the Holmes Convocation Center. The North Carolina Troopers Association Caisson Unit will support the services.
