Laurel County Sheriff John Root says Deputy Tommy Houston along with Deputy James Fox and Deputy Hobie Daugherty were called out to Lake Road where a man was reportedly holding a woman at gunpoint. Deputies arrived to find a woman on the porch. She told them she and 37-year-old Stephen Wombles had argued leading to a physical altercation. She said she ran outside and called police when Wombles pulled a gun on her. Deputies discovered that Wombles was still inside the house and potentially still armed. Deputies were able to convince Wombles to come outside with his hands up but his handgun was in his waistband. He was arrested without further incident and charged with wanton endangerment and assault. Wombles was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.

Laurel County Sheriff John Root says Deputy Tommy Houston, Deputy Hobie Daugherty and Deputy James Fox were dispatched to a prowler complaint off Lee Hurley Road, approximately 5 miles north of London. Deputies met the caller, 34-year-old Ashley V. Hurley of East Bernstadt, there. During the investigation police determined that the complaint was unfounded. Deputies noted that in the past two days Hurley had called 911 forty times either hanging up or reporting unfounded prowler complaints. Hurley was arrested and charged with falsely reporting an incident, harassing communications and public intoxication – controlled substances. She was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.

Laurel County Sheriff John Root says Deputy Hobie Daugherty, along with Shift Sgt. John Inman and Deputy James Fox responded to a crash on U.S. 25 about three miles south of London. Deputies arrived to find that 60-year-old Stephen Little of Corbin was driving a pickup when he hit another car that was stopped and waiting to turn. Upon further investigation, they determined Little was driving under the influence of alcohol. Little was arrested and charged with DUI, reckless driving, failure to wear a seatbelt and failure to maintain required insurance. He was taken to the Laurel County Correctional Center.

Laurel County Sheriff John Root says Deputy Tommy Houston along with Deputy Landry Collett, Deputy James Fox, and Deputy Hobie Daugherty arrested a man on meth charges during a traffic stop. Deputies pulled over 33-year-old Joshua Wayne Abner of McKee after noticing him weaving on Hawk Creek Road. During the stop police noticed a front wheel had severe damage and the tire was nearly off the rim. Abner was also found to be in possession of suspected methamphetamine, a needle and a set of digital scales. He admitted to deputies he had used meth earlier. Abner was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, reckless driving, driving on DUI suspended license and failure to maintain required insurance. Abner was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
