It’s been widely recognised that with the help of a strong army of volunteers, the clinical team at the Riverside Vaccination Centre are doing a fantastic job of vaccinating thousands of people each week, but can only work with what they have got.

Over £1,000 raised through Ramadan for hospital charity Trainee biomedical scientists, Jussna Mateen, said, “Ramadan is also a charitable month so to have been able to have raised the money and support our hospital for the benefit of our Island community is just a small way to show our appreciation” Trainee biomedical scientist, Jussna Mateen with the Isle of Wight NHS Trust, has helped to fundraise over £1,000 for the Friends of St Mary’s Hospital charity. Throughout Ramadan, the holy month of fasting in the Muslim calendar, Jussna and her colleagues in the Pathology Department, decided to donate the money raised through iftar meal orders from her family’s restaurant to the Friends of St Mary’s Hospital.

Isle of Wight NHS Trust bracing itself for Care Quality Commission inspection The Trust was placed in Special Measures in January 2018, but has been making improvements over the past three years The Isle of Wight NHS Trust is bracing itself for an inspection from health watchdog the Care Quality Commission (CQC). Chief executive Maggie Oldham said she could not imagine there are many other NHS chief executives who are as keen as she is to be inspected, as she seeks to move the trust from ‘requires improvement’ status. The trust was rated as ‘requires improvement’ in four categories safe, effective, responsive and well-led. It was rated ‘good’ in the caring category.
