Swiss-based tie-up signs deal for construction of Albaniaâs Vlora airport Vlora Airport project, Albania, Author:Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy TIRANA (Albania), April 21 (SeeNews) - A consortium led by Swiss-based Mabco Constructions, a subsidiary of Mabetex Group, has signed a contract for the construction of an international airport near Albania’s southwestern port city of Vlora, Mabco Constructions said. The airport, which will include a 3.2-kilometre runway, is expected to serve up to 2 million passengers per year, Mabco Constructions said in a statement. The airport will be the country s first to offer aircraft maintenance services. Construction is expected to start within 14 months, daily Tirana Times reported on Tuesday.

Albania receives 38,400 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine - report Photo: Pixabay TIRANA (Albania), March 15 (SeeNews) - Albania received the first 38,400 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine under the COVAX facility of the World Health Organisation (WHO), local media reported. The Albanian health ministry started administering the vaccine doses to teachers and professors on Saturday, news daily Tirana Times reported. The authorities will also use the vaccines for the immunization of people over 80 years old as the Committee of Experts has approved its use for everyone older than 18 years. Albania expects to receive an additional 60,000 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine in April, Tirana Times quoted prime minister Edi Rama as saying.
