Singer and keyboardist Neville Fernandez needs little prompting to entertain his co-residents.
His weekly singalongs have earned him the name ‘Happy Hour King’ at Arcare Keysborough aged care home.
The ex-civil engineer is also state finalist in an inaugural national talent quest held by the Arcare aged-care home group.
He will be in the running for the $250 national title as well as a state prize and the CEO’s Choice award.
Mr Fernandez has routinely taken to the microphone in times of need. He brightened the home’s dreary days of Covid lockdown.
He also came to the rescue when guest entertainers needed a singer for Ceylon Biala at a Sri Lankan party.

OLD SAYBROOK The Katharine Hepburn Cultural Arts Center presents Ted Vigil May 8, performing a John Denver tribute for two shows at 3 and 8 p.m
“Vigil’s resemblance to music icon John Denver, who died in 1997 when his experimental aircraft crashed into the Pacific Ocean, is uncanny,” theater officials said in a statement.
“Vigil, who has been performing since he was 10, as well as writing, recording and performing his original compositions, won a national Talent Quest title as John Denver in 2006. After winning a celebrity look-alike contest, he began planning his John Denver tribute show,” according to the statement.

MIP China’s signature one-to-one Partnership Forum, which brings together content providers from around the world with Asian and Chinese acquisition executives, will take place fully online from June 28 to 30.
More than 100 buyers, with one-third representing China and the rest from outside the region, have confirmed their participation at the Forum, covering all genres, with particularly strong representation in drama and kids.
MIP China’s conferences will be held physically in Hangzhou and online, starting June 22. The spotlight this year will be on how to produce global animation hits with local stories. All sessions will also be accessible online and available to delegates on replay.
