One of the biggest restoration projects in Auckland has come to fruition for the owners - the huge, formerly dilapidated colonial villa at 29A Hepburn Street, Freemans Bay has been sold for $7.9 million. The house, which starred in Taika Waititi’s 2016 movie Hunt for the Wilderpeople, fetched the second highest price recorded for the suburb – REINZ data shows top billing goes to a house in Arthur Street that sold for $11.15 million in 2018. The massive villa, which had a particularly commanding position in the street, first drew attention in 2017 when it was shunted 15.5m sideways to make room for a second house on the site.
