Last week, the Provincial Government announced libraries could open under Step 2 of the Path Forward plan, but some local libraries aren’t ready to open their doors yet.
The Wetaskiwin Public Library announced they remain closed, except for contactless pickup while they make the necessary preparations to re-open.

Contactless pick up is available 10 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday by calling 780-361-4446.
They are asking people to use the drop box to return items and reminds the public that overdue fines will be charged to accounts for late returns.

Millet is one step closer to having a daycare and after school care centre after Town Council approved a Development Permit for the Bluebird Daycare at its Jan. 13 meeting.
“I think people are very excited about having this kind of business in the community,” said Lisa Novotny, director of Development.

With new Provincially-mandated health measures in place, Wetaskiwin County has 17 active cases, with three more people recovered, but The City of Wetaskiwin and Maskwacis continue to see cases increasing.
As of Monday, there are 58 active cases in the City. Maskwcais Health Services reported 223 among the Four Nations with eight hospitalized from the virus that continues to spread across the province.
