Victorian winery may be setting precedent for off-grid cellar door electric vehicle charging

Dogrock winery, a small, family-owned business in the Pyrenees region of central Victoria, has been off-grid since its inception in 1999 and is now offering off-grid, emissions-free electric vehicle charging.
The business is a five red star rated Halliday winery and is also in the Powercor Hall of fame for local businesses for environmental responsibility.
With the addition of another 5 kW of solar panels the business is very happy to announce the installation of an electric vehicle (EV) charging station.
First woman to win Corteva Marlborough Young Viticulturist of the Year Competition

Congratulations to Jessica Wilson from Whitehaven who became the Corteva Marlborough Young Viticulturist of the Year 2021. The competition was held on 1 July following at Giesen’s Stump Creek Road Vineyard in Renwick.
Congratulations also goes to Jessica Marston from Villa Maria who was Runner Up and Tahryn Mason also from Villa Maria who came third.
This is the first time in the sixteen years of the Marlborough Young Vit Competition that a woman has taken out the title.
It’s one of the original Young Vit regional competitions and always oversubscribed with many young viticulturists applying to enter.
Halliday Wine Companion announces shortlist

Halliday Wine Companion, the industry benchmark for Australian wine, is pleased to announce the return of its annual awards.
It will be back in ceremony format at the distinguished Stokehouse in St Kilda on Thursday 12 August 12.
After the enormous success of last year’s online stream, the event will also be broadcast locally and internationally via winecompanion.com.au on the evening.
For the first time this year, judging for the Halliday Wine Companion Awards was conducted by the full and revitalised Halliday Tasting Panel, led by renowned wine critic and vigneron, editor-at-large James Halliday AM and the celebrated and award-winning wine expert Tyson Stelzer as Chief Editor.
Wolf Blass crowned 2021 ‘Red Winemaker of the Year’ for the fourth time at prestigious global wine competition

Iconic Australian winery, Wolf Blass, has been named ‘Red Winemaker of the Year’ for the fourth time by the prestigious International Wine Challenge (IWC) in London.
Consistently recognised as one of the most successful wineries and a recipient of more than 10,000 medals and trophies globally, Wolf Blass has another golden win to add to its ever-growing awards cabinet with this latest accolade.
This is an extraordinary achievement given it is the fourth time Wolf Blass has been recognised in this category following wins in 2008, 2013 and 2016.

The 2021 Women in Wine NZ Mentoring Programme is underway with 11 women mentors working in the New Zealand wine industry volunteering to share their experiences and knowledge to fellow female industry professionals.
Over the next six months, the mentors will guide and support their mentees as they work out which direction they want to take next in their career.
They will help set goals, plan how to reach them and encourage them to confidently follow their passion and dreams within the industry.
As usual, the programme was over-subscribed with a high number of applications, indicating there are many ambitious women working in the New Zealand wine industry looking to stretch their learning potential.
