First woman to win Corteva Marlborough Young Viticulturist of the Year Competition
July 5th, 2021
Congratulations to Jessica Wilson from Whitehaven who became the Corteva Marlborough Young Viticulturist of the Year 2021. The competition was held on 1 July following at Giesen’s Stump Creek Road Vineyard in Renwick.
Congratulations also goes to Jessica Marston from Villa Maria who was Runner Up and Tahryn Mason also from Villa Maria who came third.
This is the first time in the sixteen years of the Marlborough Young Vit Competition that a woman has taken out the title.
It’s one of the original Young Vit regional competitions and always oversubscribed with many young viticulturists applying to enter.
Wilson said she entered the competition to meet more people in the industry and to see where her weaknesses were. “Machinery and irrigation have always been most challenging for me, but I have been getting better each year I do the competition,” the Whitehaven viticulturist said. “I worked really hard this year and improved so much. “After last year I really wanted to win it so for the last few months I ve been putting in a lot of work, training and studying.”

I was freaking out: Wife of ISCC inmate was on the phone with husband during Saturday night disturbance
Jessica Marston, the wife of an ISCC inmate, believes this incident was more of a riot than a disturbance, but IDOC stated the incident was not a riot. Author: Joey Prechtl Updated: 10:17 PM MDT April 11, 2021
The disturbance began Saturday afternoon when several inmates began destroying property in the H-Block of Tier 1 in the facility. It is currently not known why the inmates began destroying property.
Among the inmates in the H-Block is Jessica Marston s husband, Jeremy, who was on the phone with her during the incident on Saturday.
