Killjoys and her roles in films like
Ready Player One and
Ant-Man and the Wasp, has been cast as the lead in the upcoming reboot of the sword and sorcery heroine s film adventures, according to
“Hannah is a very talented actress who we’ve been following for years and she IS Red Sonja,” director Joey Soloway said in a statement. “Her range, sensibilities and strength are all qualities we have been looking for and we couldn’t be more excited to embark on this journey together.”

The Hollywood Reporter revealed that she’ll play the film’s lead character, and that she’s recently completed work on another upcoming project, Netflix’s
Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City.
The character was originally created for Marvel’s
Conan the Barbarian comic series a female warrior who was inspired by one of Conan creator Robert E. Howard’s other, non-Conan sword and sorcery stories, Red Sonya of Rogatino. She’s appeared in comics ever since, leading a series by Dynamite Comics, and appeared in her own film in 1985.

The Witcher: Blood Origin. The show will be a six-part, live-action prequel series that takes place long before the events of the flagship series, which stars Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia, a witcher and monster hunter.

It’s been over a year and a half since
Transparent creator Joey Soloway signed on to replace Bryan Singer in the director’s chair for Millennium Films’ long-planned Red Sonja reboot, and now it seems the project is finally ready to move forward.
THR reports that up-and-coming screenwriter Tasha Huo, showrunner and executive producer of an upcoming
Tomb Raider anime for Netflix, has signed on to write the script for the fantasy adventure. Casting is set to begin immediately, with Millennium set to shop the project at the European Film Market.
The
Red Sonja movie officially has a writer in Tasha Huo. THR reports that Huo, will be showrunning Netflix’s upcoming animated
Tomb Raider series, will pen the script for the long-in-development fantasy adaptation.
The film has been in the works for quite some time, with Brian Singer set to direct until he was dropped due to allegations of sexual assault in early 2019.
Transparent creator Jill Solloway is set to direct the film, which will begin casting immediately.
