Scott Coker doesn’t believe Valerie Loureda’s stock took a big hit following her first pro loss Friday night.
In the main card opener of Bellator 259 event at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn., Loureda dropped a unanimous decision to promotional newcomer Hannah Guy. Both Loureda and Guy now have matching 3-1 records.
Following the event, Coker spoke with reporters and was asked about Loureda’s stock following the loss. After speaking with American Top Team head man Dan Lambert, the Bellator president is confident the 22-year-old Loureda will bounce back.
“I was talking to Dan, because she’s out at ATT in Florida, and he said, ‘Hey, she’s young, she’ll rebound, she’ll work on her ground game and she’ll eventually put it all together,’” Coker said. “She’s got time and I know that, especially with what Dan’s been telling me, he says, ‘Scott, this girl is in the gym and she’s throwing bombs at peopl
What a great weekend of fights we have for fans of women’s MMA. I am going to focus on the two big Bellator 259 fights. I also will remind you that Invicta FC takes place this Friday. As someone who is a contracted Invicta fighter, I never breakdown the Invicta fights, to eliminate any perceived bias. But it’s a great card featuring two title fights as Karina Rodriguez meets Daiana Torquato for the flyweight strap and Alesha Zappitella defends the atomweight title against Jessica Delboni.
Also, a heads up, I am in my own fight camp right now so this will be my last preview until after my fight. It does take time to watch video and try and make these as accurate as possible and during the last weeks of camp!

Valerie Loureda would like to remind people that despite her manicured image, louder-than-life personality and flashy strikes inside the cage, she’s still just 22.
For Loureda, who faces Hannah Guy on Friday at Bellator 259, that means she’s still finding her way, fighting through tough situations, focusing on her goal of becoming a champion. She’s run into plenty of roadblocks and cleared some hurdles far away from the filters of Instagram.
“I have three professional fights,” she said in an interview with MMA Fighting. “I put myself in the worst positions so I could grow. You guys are seeing the development of my career, so people don’t realize my age.”
