LUSAKA: Zambia have fired Serbian coach Milutin Sredojevic as they prepare for a tough World Cup qualifying programme from September, the national football association confirmed on Sunday.
“The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) can confirm that it has reached a mutual separation agreement with its senior men’s national team coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic,” a statement said.
“After a meeting between FAZ and the coach it was agreed that in the interest of progress for both parties they had to separate.”
Zambia have been drawn in the same World Cup group as Tunisia, Mauritania and Equatorial Guinea, who have all qualified for the Cup of Nations next January while Zambia will miss out.

In Irelandâs blooming hip-hop scene, the name Denise Chaila holds regal status. The Limerick MCâs first âDuel Citizenshipâ EP in 2019 announced the arrival of a mesmeric, call-to-attention voice, one who could dismantle sexism over grime beats, and then elucidate the meaning of her Zambian-Irish identity with Maya Angelou gravitas.
The rapper, poet and singerâs ascent is founded on close collaboration with fellow Irish MCs, including members of the award-winning Rusangano Family, MuRli Bo and God Knows, and Dublinâs Sim Simma Soundsystem. Spencer Sautu s late goal ensured the spoils were shared in Zambia and Guinea s top-of-the-table Group D clash at the African Nations Championship, while Tanzania recorded a vital win.
Guinea led at Limbe Stadium on the Cameroonian coast through 21-year-old Victor Kantabadouna s deft touch, but could not hold on.
Sautu equalised for Zambia in the 87th minute, heading home a deep cross.
The result leaves both teams on four points with a game to play, although Guinea top the group thanks to their superior goal difference.
Tanzania are now just a point behind thanks to a 1-0 win versus Namibia.
