FSIN Chief Bobby Cameron says the court s attitude is typical of the institutional racism faced by First Nations people in the justice system. The refusal to immediately hand over the documents, he said, is retraumatizing survivors.

2021-07-10 | Mis à jour hier à 21 h 07 Un prêtre catholique de la Saskatchewan déplore le fait que l’Église catholique n’ait pu jusqu’à maintenant honorer sa promesse de 25 millions de dollars à l égard des survivants des pensionnats pour Autochtones. C est scandaleux, vraiment honteux, réagit André Poilièvre, prêtre de Saskatoon à la retraite et récipiendaire de l Ordre du Canada. L une des promesses de l Église catholique dans la Convention de règlement relative aux pensionnats pour Autochtones de 2005 était de recueillir 25 millions de dollars pour les survivants. Dix ans plus tard, plus de 21 millions de dollars n ont toujours pas été versés, même si le gouvernement fédéral a toujours pressé l Église de payer.
