May 14, 2021 THE Davao City Health Office (CHO) is planning to extend the drive-thru swab testing at the Davao Crocodile Park for another six months and will now cater the general public as part of the city s Covid-19 expanded contact tracing and surveillance.
CHO Acting Head Dr. Ashley Lopez said in a radio interview on Thursday, May 13, that the free drive-thru swab test, which started on April 26 to all drivers of public transportation and delivery services, will now also be open for businesses and establishments workers required to undergo swabbing.
Lopez said the Davao City Covid-19 Task Force decided to submit a formal letter requesting the Crocodile Park management to extend the swabbing activities within the area for another six months.

DAVAO CITY – The “Swab Drive-Thru” at the Davao Crocodile Park grounds here has been extended for six months or from May 17 until Nov. 17 as the city government ramped up its community surveillance testing to detect more active COVID-19 cases.

Dr. Ashley Lopez, acting head of the Davao City Health Office (CHO), said in an interview over Davao City Disaster Radio (DCDR 87.5) Thursday that the Swab Drive-Thru would no longer be exclusive to drivers of public utility vehicles (PUVs) and online food delivery services as it would open to other businesses and establishments whose workers need to undergo swabbing.

May 11, 2021 DAVAO City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio encouraged senior citizens to get themselves vaccinated against Covid-19, as the city started its vaccine rollout for them starting Tuesday, May 11, 2021.
Duterte-Carpio said in a radio interview on Monday, May 10, that seniors, who are considered Priority A2 should coordinate with their respective barangay and district health offices on how they can access the Covid-19 vaccines.
The mayor clarified that while it is voluntary, she highly encouraged them to avail themselves of the vaccine for their protection. Because this will help sa atoang (with our) target herd immunity which public health experts say na kung ma-achieve nato ang (that if we can achieve) herd immunity sa tibuok nasud (in the entire country), we can control Covid-19, Duterte-Carpio said in an interview on 87.5 FM Davao City Disaster Radio.

+ May 10, 2021 DURING her special hour on 87.5 FM Davao City Disaster Radio on Monday, May 10, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio said they have noted that the active Covid-19 cases in the city have been steadily increasing in the past week.
Based on the data from the Department of Health in Davao Region, the city s active cases grew to 513 on May 9 from 372 cases on May 3. The city recorded its highest number of new cases in a week on May 9 with 74 new cases.
Data from the City Government of Davao also showed that the city went from minimal risk to moderate risk.
