GREENPORT â A boil water order has been issued in the Town of Greenport after a large water main break on Fairview Avenue. Residents are asked to boil their water for several minutes before drinking, said John Mokszycki, Superintendent of Water for the town.
Results of water samples that were sent to the laboratory will not be back until Wednesday so the boil water order is in effect until at least then, Mokszycki said.
The break kept crews busy all day Monday. A 6-foot line ruptured on the west side of Fairview Avenue, at the entrance to Furniture Plus, said Fred Fuchs of the Town of Greenport Water Department.

We are thankful that we will again be able to serve our community by accepting donations and providing access to quality donated goods at affordable prices. This also means that many of our volunteers and staff are again able to return to work.

At the Thrift Shop, we will return to regular store hours (Tue.-Fri. 9:30-5 and Sat. 9:30-4) but with capacity held to 10 households in the store at a time. To track customer numbers, we will keep our front door locked and the back door will serve as the only entry and exit. Masks continue to be mandatory.
