Kolkata: Despite the Election Commission stating categorically earlier in the day that there was no plan to club the remaining four phases of West Bengal Assembly Elections, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday evening once again appealed to the poll panel to hold all the remaining phases of voting in one go.
Taking to Twitter, Mamata said her ruling party, the Trinamool Congress, had opposed holding the state polls in eight phases from the start. She added that with COVID-19 cases now surging in West Bengal like in the rest of the country, all the remaining phases of the elections should be clubbed for the safety of the electorate.
